Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission – MvPI Internship Programme 2026 Eligibility for B.Pharm, M.Pharm, Pharm.D and Related Fields

The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) is inviting applications for the MvPI Internship Programme 2026, a unique opportunity designed for students and graduates interested in gaining hands-on exposure to materiovigilance and national healthcare safety systems. This internship aims to build skilled professionals capable of contributing to safer medical device practices across India.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open to candidates who have completed or are in their final semester/year of the following recognized programmes:

  • Pharmaceutical Sciences: B.Pharm, M.Pharm, Pharm.D
  • Medical Sciences: MBBS, MDS, PhD
  • Dental Sciences: BDS, MDS, PhD
  • Engineering: BE, ME, B.Tech, M.Sc., MS, PhD with specialization in biomedical, clinical, medical electronics, instrumentation, or related fields
  • Nursing: ANM, GNM, B.Sc., M.Sc. Nursing
  • Allied Health Sciences and equivalent healthcare-related disciplines

This broad eligibility ensures participation from diverse technical, clinical, and research backgrounds, strengthening the multidisciplinary nature of materiovigilance activities.

Duties and Responsibilities During the Internship

  1. Support to Monitoring Centres:
    Interns will primarily assist the coordinators and management teams of monitoring centers, peripheral hospitals, and clinics to enhance the quality and frequency of adverse event reporting within available institutional resources.
  2. Attendance Requirement:
    A minimum of 75% attendance is mandatory. Interns achieving over 90% attendance with outstanding performance will be awarded an Excellence Certificate.
  3. Hospital Rounds:
    Interns may be instructed to visit various hospital locations such as wards, ICUs, laboratories, nursing stations, operation theatres, and other clinical departments as and when required.
  4. Awareness Activities:
    Under supervision, interns will conduct or assist in sensitization programs aimed at educating healthcare professionals on materiovigilance practices.
  5. Professional Conduct:
    Maintaining a respectful and professional relationship with healthcare workers is essential. Interns must adhere to the code of conduct of the IPC, MDMC, AMC, and associated hospitals or clinics.
  6. Baseline Studies & Reporting:
    Interns will support baseline surveys initiated by NCC-MvPI, identify defective or recalled products within medical device supply points, and update coordinators for necessary action.
  7. Project Submission:
    A detailed project report must be submitted to the coordinator/deputy coordinator for review, followed by a final submission to IPC at the end of the internship.
  8. Confidentiality:
    Any data generated must be kept strictly confidential. Publication or presentation is permissible only with prior approval from NCC-MvPI.
  9. Approval for Project Work:
    Necessary authorization must be obtained from the coordinator/deputy coordinator before beginning any research activity.
  10. Ethical Standards:
    Interns must protect sensitive information, avoid conflicts of interest, and uphold integrity in all professional interactions.
