BRIC, an apex autonomous body under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for multiple scientific and administrative leadership positions. BRIC coordinates and oversees 13 premier DBT autonomous institutes across India.
Available Positions
1. Deputy Director General (Science)
- Pay Level: Level-14 (7th CPC)
- Vacancies: 02 (UR)
- Upper Age Limit: 50 years
Essential Qualification & Experience:
- Ph.D. in Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Chemical / Computational & Information / Agricultural / Pharmaceutical / Veterinary Sciences
- Minimum 16 years of post-Ph.D. experience in R&D, administration, planning, academia, industry, or S&T organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Annual budget and scientific planning of BRIC institutes
- Scientific review and evaluation
- Coordination of academic and flagship programmes
- National & international collaborations
- Nodal responsibilities for BRIC institutes
- Handling major science-related mission programmes
2. Director (Science)
- Pay Level: Level-13A (7th CPC)
- Vacancies: 02 (UR)
- Upper Age Limit: 50 years
Essential Qualification & Experience:
- Ph.D. in relevant Life Science/Technology domains
- Minimum 12 years of post-Ph.D. experience in R&D or S&T administration
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist DDG (Science) in planning & monitoring scientific programmes
- Oversee Science Administration & Communication division
- Academic Coordinator for I3c BRIC-RCB Ph.D. Programme
- Budget preparation and planning
- R&D coordination and outreach across BRIC institutes
- Organizing SAC/GB and expert committee meetings
3. Deputy Director (Science)
- Pay Level: Level-12 (7th CPC)
- Vacancies: 02 (UR)
- Upper Age Limit: 50 years
Essential Qualification & Experience:
- Ph.D. in the relevant disciplines
- Minimum 4 years of post-Ph.D. experience in R&D or S&T administration
Key Responsibilities:
- Support DDG and Director (Science) in planning scientific programmes
- Monitor integrated multidisciplinary research programmes
- Coordinate BRIC thrust areas and inter-institutional collaborations
- Conduct SAB meetings & follow-up
- Handle DBT technical matters, reports, RTI, Parliament questions
- Prepare BRIC Annual Report
- Science communication, media coordination & PR
- Manage IT infrastructure and digital platforms
- Coordinate academic programmes with RCB & partner institutes
Eligibility Conditions
- Must meet all essential qualifications and experience criteria.
- Age limit as per post; relaxation as per Govt. of India rules.

- Probation: 2 years (extendable).
